Background Information: School Profile and History

                        Maypajo Elementary School is located at J.P Rizal St. Maypajo, Caloocan City. MaypajoElemenatry School was one of the oldest schools in Caloocan (established in 1945) and had a long history of tradition and excellence.

 

School Profile and History

​

                CALOOCAN  was formerly a Town of Rizal which became a City in 1964 at the Southern part of City Hall, is the Barrio of Maypajo.

             According to legend, this barrio has a plenty of mango trees with sweet fruits called “PAJO” from then on, people has always called MAYPAJO. This barrio is just on the boundary of manila and Caloocan separated by a bridge and about 200 meters is the Estero de Maypajo of the Corner of A. Mabini St. and J.P. Rizal St. is the market.  During 1950’s, West of the market are hectares of fishponds which later reclaimed, where the pure culture center, the church and the school are now located.

             Maypajo Elementary School has a land area of 7,544 sq.meters. The first school building was the gabaldon type with six rooms and a small principal office. Later on, more buildings were constructed .The first school principal was Ms. Beariz Fajardo who was then in-charge of Maypajo and Sampalukan Elementary School. When she was replaced by Mr. Prudencio Cordeta, the Lerma and Santiago Buildings became annexes of Maypajo Elementary School. These annexes later  become Lerma Primary School.

           The principals of the school were Mr. Cordeta, Mr. Arcadio Basilio, Mrs. Juanita Taruc, Mrs. Maxima Costes, Mrs. Irenea Manuel, Mrs. Nievel Abel, Mrs. Luz Umali, Miss Marcela Matubang , Ms. Julita Paunan, Mrs. Elizabeth T. Manalo, Mrs. Concordia Guevarra, Mrs. Rosario C. de Ocera, Mrs. Abigail S. Ignacio, Mrs. Carolina Guevarra, Mrs. Josefina B. Dimalanta, Mr. Rodolfo Hernanadez, Miss Myrna N. Monteclaro, Mrs. Cynthia L. Ayles, Dr. Abigail S. Ignacio, Dr. Salome V. Salasac, Mrs. Melanita B. Pantalla, Mrs. Jocelyn A. Navarro and presently Mrs. Josefina A. Pelayo.

             Among the residents of Maypajo, the Navarro family is the prominent with their patented steel chairs and other business plus the first priest in this barrio. They were able to help in the employment of workers in their factory. The Lerma and Dela Cruz families are exporters of bangus with their hectares of fishponds in Mindoro.

      As the years go by, the school continues on producing quality graduates. The contributions it made in the lives of the graduates are evident in the field where they are in now.

           The school will continue and strive for the quality education as an  advocate of culture of excellence in the Division of  Caloocan City.

 

​Demography

                    Maypajo Elementay School caters regular pupils of Caloocan City. As of now the school has 2,611 learners from kinder to grade six the school uses K to 12 Curriculum for Kinder to Grade Six.

           As of date there are 53 teaching personnel as per plantilla item.  Mrs. Josefina A. Pelayo, is the present principal.  The school has one permanent utility personnel and three contractual personnel.  There are four security guards one is under Ex- Bataan Security Service and three are under PDSTM.

Ethnicity and Religion(Religion of the students, teachers and non-teaching personnel separated by these groups)

            Catholic, Born Again, Islam and Iglesia Ni Cristo. But most of the teachers and students are catholic.
